"I Found My Dentures!" - Week 68

 Hello Everyone!

Here is another quick one! (So sorry!)

Highlights!

- I went on Team Ups with Hermana Gee this week (funny story, she is also from Springville and we
went to the same high school). We ended up making a new friend named Tyler! He is super awesome
and has been taught by Missionaries in the past. The very first question he asked was when does
church start! So good!

- We got special permission to go to one of our friend's church. It was quiet an interesting experience.
A couple of days later, we had another lesson with him and it was SO GOOD! We taught him about
the plan of Salvation and the Spirit was so strong!

- Sister Bingham and I got to go to zone Conference this week up at the mission office! It was so
uplifting and I enjoyed getting to see a bunch of my past companions! We had a great training on
focusing on helping our friends enter the waters of baptism.

- Funny story, I was on Team Ups with Sister Abraham and we had a lesson with a less active
member outside.  Afterwards, we asked him if we could leave him with a prayer and he said, "not
really, I really have to go to the bathroom". Then he went inside. Haha, it threw both Sister
Abraham and I off so hard. It was pretty funny!

- We had a lesson with this super sweet older lady in our ward. She went off on how she lost her
dentures and that she didn't want to pray and bug God about it. Sister Bingham and I testified of
how God hears and answers all of our prayers. Well, today we got a call from her saying that after
we left that night, she found her dentures! It was honestly the cutest thing ever! Moral of the story,
even the little things matter to the Lord!

- We had a couple of opportunities to do service this week and it was AWESOME!

I love you all so much! Have an amazing week and please let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

God loves you so much!
(And I do too!)

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

Halloween! (The Holiday Missionaries Don't Celebrate) - Week 67

 Hello Everyone!

Holy cow! This week was crazy (but awesome)! Things are super great here in Elk Grove! I absolutely love my companion - shout out to Sister Bingham! Our friends are super awesome and God is so good!

Highlights!

- So we had super awesome lesson with Kay and Mike this past week! Part way through the lesson, we asked the question, what is keeping you from being baptized. Both of them were a little taken back and they couldn't come up with a reason why. So we invited them to be baptized on November 28th! They have been praying about it this week and we are going to follow up with them tomorrow! All the prayers for Kay and Mike!

- We had a crazy encounter with our friend Joe this week. Sister Bingham and I were pulling up to the church this Sunday and we looked out the window to see our friend Joe a couple of feet away. We quickly parked and full on sprinted to find him. We were able to talk with him and invite him to church. Sadly, he said no for this week but he was really grateful that we were willing to find him! Just goes to show that there really aren't any coincidences, just tender mercies!

- We did service with some of our zone this week for a less active member in our stake on Halloween! I was able to help plant rose bushes (my favorite)! It was so much fun and we got very muddy!

- Sister Bingham and I visited with David again this week! We had a really good lesson on the Plan of Salvation because he had some concerns about the future. He seemed really interested and was even cracking a few jokes throughout the lesson! David also committed to reading a chapter in the Book of Mormon this week! He invited us to go to his church this week and we got permission from our mission president to go so... that will be interesting.

- New Friend! We started teaching Collin, the brother of one of our recent converts. He is super awesome and we had a great lesson with him, his brother, and some of the young men in the ward this week!

- I had an interview with President Zimmerman this past week. It was super great! I am so grateful for such wonderful mission leaders and missionaries I get to work with! I literally feel so blessed all the time!

I hope you all had a happy Halloween! We celebrated it by promptly not leaving our apartment and studying the whole night (the only ghosts we need is the Holy Ghost). It is so crazy that it is already November! Can I just say how real miracles are? Even in our day, if we open our eyes and our hearts, we can see the Lord's hand everyday! I am so grateful for my Savior and His Gospel! God is so good!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you all!
Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

Week 66

 Hello Everyone!

Another week in Elk Grove for the books! Sister Bingham and I are doing great here in the Waterman ward. It is super pretty here in Elk Grove. It kind of reminds me of Idaho... which is funny because my last area reminded me of Utah (except 50 bazillion times more diverse). Also, it is starting to get cold here so we pulled out the sweaters from the bottom of our suitcases. Good times!

Highlights!

- We had an AWESOME lesson with our friends Kay and Mike. Turns out, they both have been reading the Book of Mormon! Yayayay!!! They had a lot of questions and Mike actually admitted that he has been looking for a change in his life! We have invited them to really pray about what they have read! We have a lesson with them tomorrow which we are super pumped for!

- We met with our friend David too this past week! He had some concerns he wanted to talk about and so we went over the Restoration with him. We testified that as he read, prayed, and acted in faith, he would receive an answer. Prayers for David would be so appreciated!

- Man, being in person for church has been such a tender mercy! Sister Bingham and I both shared our testimonies this past Sunday and it just felt so good to be in the chapel with our ward members! Even with masks on, everyone looked so beautiful! In person church is something I will never take for granted again.

- We made a new friend! Her name is Josephine and she is super cool! We called her on the phone, introduced ourselves, and the first thing she said was, "When I get healed up from my surgery, I want to come with y'all to your church." Ummm... HECK YES! We shared a scripture with her and sang her a song over the phone! It was awesome!

- MIRACLE TIME! Okay, so because of covid, we aren't allowed to knock on the doors of nonmembers yet. But a couple of days ago, Sister Bingham and I felt really impressed that we needed to get in contact with a man who had been previously taught by Missionaries. The problem is that he doesn't ever answer his phone. So we decided we would go over to his house and possibly knock on his door. We drove over there and went up to the porch when we heard a voice behind us say, "Hello Sisters". It was him! We were able to talk with him and he wants us to come back, all with no nonmember doors having to be knocked! God's timing is perfect!

- On Saturday, I hit 15 months. SO CRAZY!

Moral of the story...

GOD IS SO GOOD!

I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it has blessed my life! I've been thinking about that a lot lately and I can't imagine what my life would be like without my Savior, without the Gospel, and without the Book of Mormon. We are so blessed to be living in these days (even though there is a lot of craziness going on right now). Keep trusting in God and rely on His Son! He loves you!

And I love you too!

Have a wonderful week!
Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

No Longer Inactive - Week 64 & 65

First of all, sorry that I missed last week's email (things last pday were kind of crazy). I am doing great here in Elk Grove! My companion Sister Bingham is FANTASTIC and we are having a wonderful time!

Here are some brief highlights from the past few weeks:

-》 Our Friends!
We are teaching a couple of really awesome guys named Kay, Mike, David, and Joe. Each one of them is fantastic! With David, we have been calling him everyday and praying with him and on Saturday, he said a prayer outloud for the first time! Kay and Mike are super great and finally accepted a physical copy of the Book of Mormon! We have a lesson with them tonight which is going to be great.

- 》 Church!
WE WENT BACK TO CHURCH FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVEN MONTHS.

(It was kinda weird... but so good!)

-  》 Biking
So, I pulled out my bike for the first time in a long time and Sister Bingham and I biked 40 minutes to a lesson.
#WeLoveCarShares
The lesson ended up canceling on us when we got their but we were able to get some really awesome referrals out of it.
#WorthIt
Also, a couple of days afterwards, we ended up getting our own car.
#StillWorthIt

-》 Road trip to Lodi and Other News
We got a surprise call from President Zimmerman last week informing us that someone that Sister Bingham had taught in Lodi was getting baptized and that we had permission to go down to watch! ROAD TRIP!
The baptism itself was very lovely and we had a great car ride! Speaking of baptisms....

CHRIS AND SANDRA ARE ON DATE TO BE BAPTIZED!

Holy Cow! I found out the other day and literally started crying! I am so proud and excited for them. They need all the prayers they can get though so keep praying for them!

- 》 Awesome Members
Okay, the members here in Elk Grove are AWESOME! We had dinner with our Bishop and his family yesterday and they made us waffles! It literally felt like I was home (shout out to my dad and his waffle making skills) Our members are super supportive with the work and I have loved getting to know them! Plus, now we get to see them at church! Yay!

Awesome week.
Awesome companion.
Awesome members.
Awesome friends.
Awesome area.

God is so good.

Have a wonderful week and don't forget, you are a child of God and He loves you!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

From East Sac to Elk Grove - Week 63

Hello Everyone!

Holy cow! This last week was CRAZY. (And I know I literally say that every week...)

First things first, we got transfer calls on Saturday and now I am in Elk Grove!

Surprise!

My new companion is Sister Bingham, who is from St. George (Haha another Utah one, we are taking over the world) and she is wonderful! Elk Grove is super awesome too! We are over the Waterman ward and already the members are super great! While I do miss East Sac, I am excited for the miracles here in Elk Grove!

Highlights!
- Thursday night was CRAZY!!! Long story short, we had a surprise baptism at 8:30pm that we got to help with and we had less than 45 minutes to fill up the font. And we couldn't get into the panel that had the faucet. So, with the help of the hose in the janitor's closet, some buckets, a giant garbage can, six missionaries, and the Lord, we were able fill the font with just enough water for her to be fully submerged. It was a huge miracle and the baptism was beautiful!
- Other big miracle: we were able to watch General Conference with Tish and Alex!! They both loved it and we had a really great discussion afterwards. We were able to help answer some of their questions and they are excited to keep learning more!
- We had another really awesome lesson with our friend Zackie on Saturday!  He told us that he had read the 3rd chapter of the Book of Mormon but he liked the story so much that he read the 4th chapter too! We had a great lesson on prophets with him and invited him to watch General Conference!
- GENERAL CONFERENCE WAS AMAZING! Who is ready to establish Zion???
- Being in a quad was probably one of the craziest things I've ever done on my mission. We had so much fun! I love and miss Sister Olsen, Sister Paxton, and Sorella Finlinson! I am also going to miss the Eastern Avenue ward and the East Sac zone!

Well, that is about everything! I hope you all were able to watch General Conference! I absolute loved Elder Andersen's talk about include Christ more into our daily conversations, actions, and lives! I also loved the theme of being kind to everyone! SO GOOD!

I love you all so much! Have an amazing day! You are in my thoughts and my prayers!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

Three is Better Than Two... But FOUR Wins Hands Down - Week 62

 Hello Everyone!

Once again, this past week was pretty crazy but super great! Our biggest piece of news has to do with the title of my weekly. We got a call from President Zimmerman this weekend informing us that we are going to be training... and by we, I mean all three of us! WE ARE GOING TO BE A COMPANIONSHIP OF FOUR. Haha, before you all question how that is going to work, it is only for a week and a half, since transfers are next week. Our new companion is coming a week early and needs a place to stay so she is joining us in the Eastern Avenue ward! We are picking her up this afternoon and we are PUMPED!

Other Highlights of the week!
- SUNDAY MIRACLE: So we had scheduled to come over and have church with Tish and Alex (our favorite Part Member Family) but when Sunday morning rolled around, they cancelled. Then they asked to reschedule for Sunday evening. But then they cancelled again. At this point, we were all kinda feeling discouraged but then God stepped in! They texted us Sunday evening and wanted us to come over! So we dropped everything and we were able to have a super spiritual Sunday service with them! It was absolutely amazing and Alex even got a little emotional! Moral of the Story: Trust in God and don't get discouraged! Also, Tish and Alex have been doing Come Follow Me and they LOVE IT!
- We had a lesson with our friend Zackie and he is reading the Book of Mormon! And he says that he knows it's true! He went on about how we need to be more humble like Nephi and how God trusts us when we are humble!  It was honestly so incredible!  He is so excited to learn more about Jesus Christ and it is amazing!
- We did a couple of Zone Service Projects this past week that were so much fun! We were able to help a lady in our stake lay and cement pavers together in her backyard.
- Another crazy miracle: last transfer, this random guy messaged Sorella Finlinson on Facebook and instead of blocking him (a normal gut reaction), she started messaging him and asked him if he would like to learn more about the gospel. He said yes, so we gave his number to the Spanish elders in our zone (because his first language is Spanish). They ended up referring him to the Hermanas in Utah, since that is where he is from. Well, we got a call on Saturday (a couple months later) from the Spanish elders saying that he had been baptized that day!!! SO AWESOME! Second moral of the story: Facebook miracles are real!
- The sweetest lady paid for our meal the other day! I can't even express how grateful I am for the members out here! They are absolutely incredible!
- I hit 14 months this past week!

It has been such a humbling and faith-building week! All I can really say is my testimony that I know this is the Lord's work and that we can trust in His timing! I am so grateful for the amazing people God has put in my life! Thank you for all of your love and support!

Have a miracle-filled week!
Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin
