Um... Why Does This Baskin Robbins Have Bars in the Windows? - Week 40

Hello Everyone!

Oh man did we have some crazy awesome miracles this week!  Buckle Up!

Highlights!
- So we had a couple of really fantastic lessons with our friend Ted this week!  However, on Saturday, we ended going over the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him (faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the Holy Ghost, endure to the end).  He really liked the idea of the Holy Ghost being a constant companion and that we can gain more knowledge and peace when we have the gift of the Holy Ghost. So, we asked him, "Would you like to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost?"  And he said yes!  Oh my goodness, our hearts were racing!  We then asked, "Ted, will you follow the example of Jesus Christ by being baptized?"  He said YES!  WHOOO HOOOO!  We talked about setting a date for the end of May (probably the 30th) and we invited him to pray about it!  Sister Brandley and I literally danced around the room after the video call ended, we were so excited!  So please keep Ted in your prayers!
-  This Sunday, we didn't just have one Sunday Service over video chat... we had four!  We had one with our zone and then we had three with three different friends (Ted, Devin, and our favorite part member family)!  The miracle was that all three of the Sunday Services went super well!  The technology ran smoothly and we were able to have different members of our ward join for all of them!  It definitely made for a very busy but an amazing Sunday!
-  We were able to have a really awesome lesson with our friend Devin this Thursday!  We finished going over the Plan of Salvation with him.  Not only did it make a lot of sense to him, he ended up reading a lot more of the Book of Mormon than we had originally asked him too!  And he wanted to know what he needed to read for next time!  He also mentioned how he felt that running into missionaries and having lessons with us was God telling him that he was being watched over!  We are so excited to continue teaching Devin!

Other Random Stuff:
- We walked our member's dog every morning this week for our daily exercise.  The dog has two names: Elder Bones and Mop Dog.  Which one is your favorite?
- My trainer Hermana Lewis went home! I love her so much and miss her already!
-  I reached my 9 month mark and now Sister Brandley says I'm middle-aged
-  We celebrated Ted being on date by getting ice cream today!  It was the sketchiest Baskin Robbins I have ever seen.  The windows had bars on them and I'm pretty sure there was someone being mugged in the parking lot.  The ice cream was great!
-  We have been having really amazing lessons with our friends and members over video chat!  In fact, one of the goals for our zone this transfer is to be teaching lessons!  So, if you are interested in having a lesson with some missionaries, send me an email with your phone number and we will get that arranged for you! (Haha, I bolded it because it's important)

Things have been so exciting and crazy as we enter another week of quarantine!  I am so grateful for all the love and support I have felt from members, friends, and family!  I have truly been so blessed!  God is very much real and so much bigger and stronger than this virus!  I love you all so much and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Lots of Love,
Sister Ferrin

Week 39

Hello Everyone!

Here's a quick email for you all! Things are going pretty well! We got transfer calls on Saturday and both Sister Brandley and I are staying in the River Park Ward!

We have had some pretty awesome lessons this week! We had three video call lessons with our friend Ted, one of them being a special Sunday Service. We were able to teach him the entire Plan of Salvation! We also had a super amazing lesson with our new friend Devin! Earlier this week, we were able to drop off a Book of Mormon at his door. Then, on Friday, we had a video chat lesson with him and we taught him the Plan of Salvation. IT WAS SO COOL! The Spirit was so strong throughout the entire lesson and Devin had some really amazing questions! We are so excited to get to teach him more especially as he reads the Book of Mormon!

Things are pretty exciting as we finish up the first month of being in Self Isolation. Also, on the 24th, I reach my 9 month mark! Which means I am half way done with my mission! That is so crazy and I have just loved being a missionary! I am so excited to get to continue to serve here in Sacramento and cheers to another amazing 9 months!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

Easter in Isolation! - Week 38

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Sister Brandley  and I sure did! I absolutely love Easter! It was such a blessing to get to study and reflect upon the life, death, and resurrection of the Savior! My favorite scripture of late has been John 11:25-26 which says:

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

I love this scripture so much! I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and his Atoning Sacrifice because through Him, I know that I can overcome death and live with God and family again! Because of Christ, I can live each and everyday with hope and happiness!

Exciting things from this week!

- We had two awesome Sunday Services for Easter yesterday! The first one was with our favorite part member family and the second one was with our friend Ted! We even had two members join us for Ted's Sunday Service! They were both so good and it was the perfect way to celebrate Easter with our friends!

- So we had interviews with President and Sister Hymas this past week at the temple grounds (six feet apart of course) but when we got there, they had a present for us! A CAR!!! We are no longer biking sisters! The funny thing though is we are still quarantined so the car is just sitting in the parking stall but we are still excited!

- We were able to have a lesson with our friend Cecelia over the phone! We read the Book of Mormon with her and she loved it! For our friends who aren't able to have video call lessons, we call them on the phone and sing hymns to them and read scriptures with them! It's seriously the best!

We are doing so great! We have been having wonderful video call lessons with our friends and members and daily Devotionals with all the Missionaries in the Sacramento Mission! We are staying healthy and busy! And next week is transfers so that will be even more excitement! I love you all so much and if you want to know the best way to help out Missionaries, find them on Facebook, like and comment on their posts, and share them! That would make any missionary super happy!

Have a great day and a wonderful week!
Lots of Love,
Sister Ferrin

Warning! This Email Contains General Conference Spoilers - Week 37

Hello Everyone!

This week was pretty great, especially this weekend! General Conference was amazing! The music, the speakers, the themes, the new proclamation, and OH MY GOODNESS WE ARE GETTING A TEMPLE IN DUBAI AND SHANGHAI THAT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER WHOOOHOOO!!!

Can I just say that I love temples?

Yes, yes I can. And yes I do!

General Conference was great! We also had some awesome lessons with our friend Ted this week! We were able to drop off a physical copy of the Book of Mormon at his door (shout out to the Elders and their car) and we were able to introduce him to one of our members (via phone call)! Technology is pretty amazing! We also were able to have some great lessons with our members this week too!

Can I just take another moment to say how amazing our members are? They will leave food and snacks for us at our door! They are so wonderful!

Besides trying to have as many video call lessons as possible, we also had A LOT of meetings this week (all over Zoom of course). We had Zone Conference, Daily Mission-wide Devotionals, and a weekly institute class. It has been pretty exciting!

If you are ever curious to know what Sister Brandley and I are doing during self isolation, check out Facebook on Sunday nights. We have been doing weekly Facebook Live "mini" devotionals. This week, we are having one about Easter so you should all totally tune in!

Thank you for all your love and support! If any of you return Missionaries have any ideas or experiences with using online proslyting, please let me know! We are always looking for new ideas! Have an amazing week and stay safe and healthy!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin
