Three is Better Than Two... But FOUR Wins Hands Down - Week 62

 Hello Everyone!

Once again, this past week was pretty crazy but super great! Our biggest piece of news has to do with the title of my weekly. We got a call from President Zimmerman this weekend informing us that we are going to be training... and by we, I mean all three of us! WE ARE GOING TO BE A COMPANIONSHIP OF FOUR. Haha, before you all question how that is going to work, it is only for a week and a half, since transfers are next week. Our new companion is coming a week early and needs a place to stay so she is joining us in the Eastern Avenue ward! We are picking her up this afternoon and we are PUMPED!

Other Highlights of the week!
- SUNDAY MIRACLE: So we had scheduled to come over and have church with Tish and Alex (our favorite Part Member Family) but when Sunday morning rolled around, they cancelled. Then they asked to reschedule for Sunday evening. But then they cancelled again. At this point, we were all kinda feeling discouraged but then God stepped in! They texted us Sunday evening and wanted us to come over! So we dropped everything and we were able to have a super spiritual Sunday service with them! It was absolutely amazing and Alex even got a little emotional! Moral of the Story: Trust in God and don't get discouraged! Also, Tish and Alex have been doing Come Follow Me and they LOVE IT!
- We had a lesson with our friend Zackie and he is reading the Book of Mormon! And he says that he knows it's true! He went on about how we need to be more humble like Nephi and how God trusts us when we are humble!  It was honestly so incredible!  He is so excited to learn more about Jesus Christ and it is amazing!
- We did a couple of Zone Service Projects this past week that were so much fun! We were able to help a lady in our stake lay and cement pavers together in her backyard.
- Another crazy miracle: last transfer, this random guy messaged Sorella Finlinson on Facebook and instead of blocking him (a normal gut reaction), she started messaging him and asked him if he would like to learn more about the gospel. He said yes, so we gave his number to the Spanish elders in our zone (because his first language is Spanish). They ended up referring him to the Hermanas in Utah, since that is where he is from. Well, we got a call on Saturday (a couple months later) from the Spanish elders saying that he had been baptized that day!!! SO AWESOME! Second moral of the story: Facebook miracles are real!
- The sweetest lady paid for our meal the other day! I can't even express how grateful I am for the members out here! They are absolutely incredible!
- I hit 14 months this past week!

It has been such a humbling and faith-building week! All I can really say is my testimony that I know this is the Lord's work and that we can trust in His timing! I am so grateful for the amazing people God has put in my life! Thank you for all of your love and support!

Have a miracle-filled week!
Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

Zone P-day in the Mud - Week 60

 Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the short email (again) but I just want you to know that I love you all and that I am doing great!  We had some wonderful miracles this week:

-  We set up a lesson with Chris and Sandra!
-  Zackie read the first chapter of the Book of Mormon!  He also said that he believes that we were sent from God to teach him.
-  Super big miracle!  We happened to be in the right place at the right time and got to have an in person lesson with a referral we had tried (with no success) contacting earlier this week!  She even accepted a Book of Mormon!
-  Our member invited her nonmember friend to our lesson and we got to sing a bunch of hymns with her!  The Spirit was super strong and she wants to meet with us again!
-  We got to help a member can (more canning!) a bunch of grape juice and then deliver goodies to some of the older members of the ward!
- We got to have a zone p-day in person today!  We played kickball and it was SO muddy!  Every single missionary was covered in mud.  It was so much fun!

I'm sorry that this email is short but the moral of the story is that God is so good and miracles are real!  Sister Olsen, Sister Finlinson, and I prayed that we would have the faith to see miracles this week and then we saw so many!  I am so grateful for Heavenly Father and His tender mercies!  They are very real!

I love you all so much!  Have a wonderful week!
Lots of Love,
Sister Ferrin

Also, sorry there are no pictures!  Stay tuned for next week!

Canning Masters - Week 59

 Hello Everyone!

This week was a long one but a good one. Summer is holding out as long as she can here in California so yesterday was a lovely 108 degrees.  Today is supposed to be 110 degrees.

*chugs some more water*

Highlights!
- On Tuesday, Sister Olsen and I drove up to... EL DORADO!  Oh man that was such a throwback!  We had Mission Leadership Council at one of the buildings up there because El Dorado county approved meeting indoors in larger groups.  It was fun getting to see so many missionaries in person!  We were able to set some really awesome goals for this month and I am so pumped to see miracles this transfer!  Whoohoo!
-  Kinda sad but pretty much all of our progressing friends weren't able to meet with us this past week... BUT!  They all want to meet this week so we are excited for that!  We also were able to make a new friend!  Her name is Kathy (she is the one we helped water plants with).  We felt impressed to call her the other night and share a scripture with her and now she wants us to read more scriptures with her over the phone!  Super big YAY!
-  We did some more service this week (and by service I mean canning).  Sister Olsen, Sister Finlinson, and I have decided that we are now professional canners and should start a business. We helped one super awesome member can Apricot Pineapple Jam and then we helped our favorite part member family (Tish and Alex) with canning tomato sauce and tomato chunks.  It was honestly so much fun!  Stay tuned for next week because we get to help another ward member with canning grape juice!
-  The three of us went to Folsom this week (whoohooo! more road trips).  While in Folsom, we got Costa Vida!!! I also got to go to the doctors which isn't nearly as cool as Costa Vida but whatever.
- We started doing a "book club" as a zone for this transfer in order to help us prepare for General Conference next month.  (Holy cow, as I was writing that last sentence, it just clicked that General Conference is in less than 30 days!  That is so crazy!  We are all so pumped for Conference and to listen to President Nelson!!!)  Anyways, we started a book club and it was SO GOOD!  We all read two talks from the April 2020 Conference (The Finest Homes and Spiritually Defining Memories) and we discussed them.  The Spirit was super strong and I learned so much!

So yes, a busy but great week!  If you all would pray for our friends Chris and Sandra, that would be so good.  We haven't been able to meet with them for a couple of weeks (boo covid) but we are hoping to be able to meet with them this week!  Also pray for Karen and Alex!  Please let me know if there is anyone you would like me to pray for!  Prayers of faith are truly so powerful and I know that the Lord listens and answers them!

I love you all so much!  Have an absolutely wonderful week and don't forget!

GOD LOVES YOU SO MUCH!

Lots of Love,
Sister Ferrin

Pics of the week!

Pro Garlic Chopper - Week 58

 Hello Everyone!

Another short but sweet email this week informing you that I am alive and well!

Highlights!
- TRIO LIFE (pt.2) I now have two lovely companions: Sorella Finlinson and Sister Olsen! They are both the greatest and we have had a wonderful time. I've laughed so hard to the point of wheezing the past 5 nights in a row. They are both so sweet and I love working with them!
- New friend! We started teaching this cute girl named Sara this week! She is from a part member family in our ward. We had a lesson on praying to God even over the small things! We are excited to keep working with her!
- We helped pick tomatoes and can homemade tomato sauce with one of our part member families this week! That was a lot of fun and I have greatly improved my garlic chopping skills. We are hoping to start teaching the dad, Alex next week. They are a super cool family and they make us laugh!
- More awesome lessons with our amazing members! They gave us some fresh strawberries and homemade banana bread on Sunday. We honestly are so spoiled, it is humbling. I'm so grateful for the wonderful ward members here and all of their love and support!
- Sorella Finlinson, a girl in our ward who is about to leave on her mission, and I did a musical number for our ward's zoom Devotional this Sunday! We performed I Know That My Redeemer Lives and it was super special!

Thank you all for all of the love and support! Before I go, I want to share a quote for a talk I read this week:

"As we become more like Him, we will feel at home in His house and He will feel at home in ours."
- Elder L. Whitney Clayton (April 2020)

I love this quote so much! It's so important that we make the atmosphere of our homes (and even apartments) worthy of the presence of the Spirit. As we do this, our homes will become more like the house of the Lord, His Holy Temples!

I love you all so much! Have an absolutely amazing week and good luck to everyone who is starting school this week!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

Sorry, no pics this week. I'll do better next!
