Week 66

 Hello Everyone!

Another week in Elk Grove for the books! Sister Bingham and I are doing great here in the Waterman ward. It is super pretty here in Elk Grove. It kind of reminds me of Idaho... which is funny because my last area reminded me of Utah (except 50 bazillion times more diverse). Also, it is starting to get cold here so we pulled out the sweaters from the bottom of our suitcases. Good times!

Highlights!

- We had an AWESOME lesson with our friends Kay and Mike. Turns out, they both have been reading the Book of Mormon! Yayayay!!! They had a lot of questions and Mike actually admitted that he has been looking for a change in his life! We have invited them to really pray about what they have read! We have a lesson with them tomorrow which we are super pumped for!

- We met with our friend David too this past week! He had some concerns he wanted to talk about and so we went over the Restoration with him. We testified that as he read, prayed, and acted in faith, he would receive an answer. Prayers for David would be so appreciated!

- Man, being in person for church has been such a tender mercy! Sister Bingham and I both shared our testimonies this past Sunday and it just felt so good to be in the chapel with our ward members! Even with masks on, everyone looked so beautiful! In person church is something I will never take for granted again.

- We made a new friend! Her name is Josephine and she is super cool! We called her on the phone, introduced ourselves, and the first thing she said was, "When I get healed up from my surgery, I want to come with y'all to your church." Ummm... HECK YES! We shared a scripture with her and sang her a song over the phone! It was awesome!

- MIRACLE TIME! Okay, so because of covid, we aren't allowed to knock on the doors of nonmembers yet. But a couple of days ago, Sister Bingham and I felt really impressed that we needed to get in contact with a man who had been previously taught by Missionaries. The problem is that he doesn't ever answer his phone. So we decided we would go over to his house and possibly knock on his door. We drove over there and went up to the porch when we heard a voice behind us say, "Hello Sisters". It was him! We were able to talk with him and he wants us to come back, all with no nonmember doors having to be knocked! God's timing is perfect!

- On Saturday, I hit 15 months. SO CRAZY!

Moral of the story...

GOD IS SO GOOD!

I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it has blessed my life! I've been thinking about that a lot lately and I can't imagine what my life would be like without my Savior, without the Gospel, and without the Book of Mormon. We are so blessed to be living in these days (even though there is a lot of craziness going on right now). Keep trusting in God and rely on His Son! He loves you!

And I love you too!

Have a wonderful week!
Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

No Longer Inactive - Week 64 & 65

First of all, sorry that I missed last week's email (things last pday were kind of crazy). I am doing great here in Elk Grove! My companion Sister Bingham is FANTASTIC and we are having a wonderful time!

Here are some brief highlights from the past few weeks:

-》 Our Friends!
We are teaching a couple of really awesome guys named Kay, Mike, David, and Joe. Each one of them is fantastic! With David, we have been calling him everyday and praying with him and on Saturday, he said a prayer outloud for the first time! Kay and Mike are super great and finally accepted a physical copy of the Book of Mormon! We have a lesson with them tonight which is going to be great.

- 》 Church!
WE WENT BACK TO CHURCH FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVEN MONTHS.

(It was kinda weird... but so good!)

-  》 Biking
So, I pulled out my bike for the first time in a long time and Sister Bingham and I biked 40 minutes to a lesson.
#WeLoveCarShares
The lesson ended up canceling on us when we got their but we were able to get some really awesome referrals out of it.
#WorthIt
Also, a couple of days afterwards, we ended up getting our own car.
#StillWorthIt

-》 Road trip to Lodi and Other News
We got a surprise call from President Zimmerman last week informing us that someone that Sister Bingham had taught in Lodi was getting baptized and that we had permission to go down to watch! ROAD TRIP!
The baptism itself was very lovely and we had a great car ride! Speaking of baptisms....

CHRIS AND SANDRA ARE ON DATE TO BE BAPTIZED!

Holy Cow! I found out the other day and literally started crying! I am so proud and excited for them. They need all the prayers they can get though so keep praying for them!

- 》 Awesome Members
Okay, the members here in Elk Grove are AWESOME! We had dinner with our Bishop and his family yesterday and they made us waffles! It literally felt like I was home (shout out to my dad and his waffle making skills) Our members are super supportive with the work and I have loved getting to know them! Plus, now we get to see them at church! Yay!

Awesome week.
Awesome companion.
Awesome members.
Awesome friends.
Awesome area.

God is so good.

Have a wonderful week and don't forget, you are a child of God and He loves you!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin

From East Sac to Elk Grove - Week 63

Hello Everyone!

Holy cow! This last week was CRAZY. (And I know I literally say that every week...)

First things first, we got transfer calls on Saturday and now I am in Elk Grove!

Surprise!

My new companion is Sister Bingham, who is from St. George (Haha another Utah one, we are taking over the world) and she is wonderful! Elk Grove is super awesome too! We are over the Waterman ward and already the members are super great! While I do miss East Sac, I am excited for the miracles here in Elk Grove!

Highlights!
- Thursday night was CRAZY!!! Long story short, we had a surprise baptism at 8:30pm that we got to help with and we had less than 45 minutes to fill up the font. And we couldn't get into the panel that had the faucet. So, with the help of the hose in the janitor's closet, some buckets, a giant garbage can, six missionaries, and the Lord, we were able fill the font with just enough water for her to be fully submerged. It was a huge miracle and the baptism was beautiful!
- Other big miracle: we were able to watch General Conference with Tish and Alex!! They both loved it and we had a really great discussion afterwards. We were able to help answer some of their questions and they are excited to keep learning more!
- We had another really awesome lesson with our friend Zackie on Saturday!  He told us that he had read the 3rd chapter of the Book of Mormon but he liked the story so much that he read the 4th chapter too! We had a great lesson on prophets with him and invited him to watch General Conference!
- GENERAL CONFERENCE WAS AMAZING! Who is ready to establish Zion???
- Being in a quad was probably one of the craziest things I've ever done on my mission. We had so much fun! I love and miss Sister Olsen, Sister Paxton, and Sorella Finlinson! I am also going to miss the Eastern Avenue ward and the East Sac zone!

Well, that is about everything! I hope you all were able to watch General Conference! I absolute loved Elder Andersen's talk about include Christ more into our daily conversations, actions, and lives! I also loved the theme of being kind to everyone! SO GOOD!

I love you all so much! Have an amazing day! You are in my thoughts and my prayers!

Lots of love,
Sister Ferrin
