Bonding over Sour Patch Watermelon - Week 2

It's crazy to think that this is my last P-day in the MTC!  We got our travel schedules this week and we leave on the 12th of August (this next Monday).  We leave the MTC at 10am, travel to the SLC airport via frontrunner, and our flight to California leaves around 3pm.  I'm still wrapping my head over the fact that I've been at the MTC for two weeks!  Time flies so fast when you are doing the Lord's work!

This past week was great!  We spent a lot of time in class (big surprise) and participating in other fun activities.  This week the Elders in my district convinced all the Sisters to join them in playing Four-Square.  It was actually a lot of fun and everyone was super supportive!  We bonded a lot as a district this week which was really awesome!  Funny story: my mom sent me a package with some of those nasty flavored jellybeans so me and the other sisters put them in a clear plastic baggie and brought them to class.  We then proceeded to invite the Elders to have a couple of "normal" jellybeans.  They quickly realized that what they put into their mouths wasn't a regular jellybean and several of the Elders ran out of the room to spit out the nasty flavored candy.  We all had a really good laugh over that!

A few highlights from this week:

- Sister Rawlings and I had our last lesson with Chey Ann.  It was a wonderful experience!  She is such an amazing person and has such a strong love for Jesus Christ and the scriptures!  Teaching her brought us such joy and love!  At the end of the lesson, we invited her to come to church on Sunday which she immediately said yes to!  Then we invited her to be baptized and she said that she would work towards a baptismal date!  The Spirit was so strong during our discussion and you could just feel how much the Lord loved Chey Ann!
- A bunch of new Sisters came in to the MTC this past Wednesday and it was great getting to know them all, especially those on our residence floor!  In the evening, Sis. Rawlings, Sis. Abraham, Sis. Burgener, and I invited all the new Sister to come to our room and have some of the Sour Patch Watermelon candy my mom sent me.  We told stories, laughed a lot, and testified of the power of missionary work!
- We had the opportunity to fast twice this week.  Once for fast Sunday and the other time for a Sister in our branch who was taken to the ER.  Being able to fast as a branch is one of the coolest things I've been able to do as a missionary!  The Spirit was super strong and there was a sense of love and unity that wasn't there before.  Thanks to the tender mercies of the Lord, the Sister was able to come back to the MTC and she is doing a lot better!
- I was able to run into Sister Smith (a friend from High School) a couple of times this week!  We actually sat next to each other during MTC choir (which is absolutely the best and all missionaries should at least participate in the choir once!).  I love running into people I know!  It really makes my day!

I'm so grateful for the chance to serve the Lord and His children!  He has blessed me so much in just the past few days!  Being a missionary is wonderful but also really hard.  We are so blessed that we have a Savior who sacrificed his own life so that he could help us when we struggle with ours.  I'm so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and that we can repent of our mistakes daily!  I know that Christ lives and that he loves all his children!  I have felt His love so much this past week for my companion, my district, those we've taught, and for all of the missionaries!  I love my Savior so much and I am so grateful for everything He has done for me!

I hope everyone has a great week!  Next time I write I'll be in California!  Also, thank you to everyone who has sent me emails, letters, and packages!  They really do brighten a missionaries day and we love them so much! Thank you for all of your support and prayers!
