Hello Everyone!

This week was pretty crazy! Not only was it Thanksgiving on Thursday, but we actually got snowed in on Tuesday and Wednesday. On top of the snow, the power was shut off (again) for two days. It was pretty exciting and we survived! It warmed up quite a bit so now it is just raining. Everyone here is super grateful for the rain because of all the crazy fires in the area. I'm grateful for the rain because it means I don't have to drive in the snow. So it is a win win!
Highlights of the Week!
- We got to go down to Folsom for Team-ups on Tuesday! I got to be in a trio with Sister Asay from Gilbert, Arizona and Sister Deng from China. Sister Asay actually knows my great-grandma who lives in Gilbert... what a small world! Team-ups were pretty great even though no one was really home. It was fun getting to know some of the other Sister Missionaries in the mission! Sister Rew and I also got Chick-fil-a afterwards which made me literally almost cry. I love Chick-fil-a so much!
- Between Tuesday and Wednesday it snowed about 15 inches. Since we couldn't really get out of the area with our car, we decided to do service contacting instead! Sister Rew and I each got a snow shovel and we walked around the neighborhood, offering to shovel the neighbors driveways. It was quite the workout! We shoveled this one house that had a very large driveway and right as we finished, the man who lived there pulled up next to us. He couldn't believe that we had shoveled his whole driveway, especially with only two hand shovels. When he found out what he did, he said, "Whoa! You two are beasts!" It was an awesome compliment!
- Thursday was awesome because it was Thanksgiving! We got to go to the home of some members and they feed us Thanksgiving dinner. It was super yummy and now I can say that I've officially eaten canned ham. I'm so grateful for the amazing ward members in the area! They have so much love and support for the missionaries! God has blessed me so much here!
- Mary's baptism is this Saturday! We are so excited for her! Mary brought her mom and little sisters to church again which was awesome! The best moment was when Mary's little sister (about three years old) reached over and high-fived my hand when I raised it to sustain someone. We were dying! It was so funny! Mary is doing amazing! She has almost read the entire Book of Mormon! The ward is also super excited for her baptism and are showing a ton of support to her! It is such an exciting time!
- Sister Rew went to a baptism in Rancho Cordova on Saturday with a member and I got to be in a trio with the Placerville Hermanas. It was so much fun being in my old area again! The best part though was getting to go see Dorothy! When she saw me, she ran right up to me and gave me a giant hug! I love her so much and I am so grateful I got the chance to see her again!
It is officially Christmas time! I love this time of year so much! We are so blessed to have a time of year where we get to focus on the birth of the Savior and serving others! I am so grateful for this season! I wanted to share this quote with you!
"What will you and I give for Christmas this year? Let us in our lives give to our Lord and Savior the gift of gratitude by living His teachings and following His footsteps." (President Monson)
I want to invite you all to give thanks to the Savior of the World this season by living the way He did. Find someone you can serve or pray to the Lord to put someone in your life that you can serve. I promise that as you do this, this Christmas season will be full of more love and joy than ever before! I love you all so much! You are in my thoughts and my prayers!
Lots of Love,
Sister Ferrin
