Go to the Edge to Find Miracles! - Week 31

Hello Everyone!

Sooooo.... I have officially been on my mission for 7 months!  How crazy is that!  I love being a missionary so much and I am so grateful to be serving in Sacramento California!  The weather here is a lovely 70 degrees usually and Sister Brandley and I are enjoying getting to bike around, talking with everyone, and sharing the gospel!  It's the best!

Highlights (Miracles) of the Week:
-  We had Zone Conference this past Wednesday and it was absolutely fantastic!  We talked about the importance of giving the Lord our all and trusting that He will make up the difference.  We also discussed how when we go to the edge of all we can do, that's when we are able to see miracles!  We have been invited as a zone to pray, push ourselves and work for miracles so that our whole mission can help 100 people enter the waters of baptism by the end of May!  It is going to be AWESOME!
-  We had another lesson with Rufus yesterday (our favorite 92 year old man).  We talked about the restoration with him and invited him to read the Book of Mormon, which he said that he would do!  The coolest part though was at the beginning of the lesson, he was talking about this family who would come by and wave to him (Rufus likes to sit in his garage and wave to people) and how he really respected them and wanted to be their friends and brother.  Then literally 0.3 seconds after we said a closing prayer, the VERY SAME family came up and introduced themselves to him.  Rufus began to tell them that he respects them and wants to be their friend, when all of a sudden, the dad turns to us and says, "Hello Sisters!  Which ward do you serve in?"  Turns out, the whole family were members!  So we told Rufus that they were members of our church and he was so impressed and amazed!  It was very obvious that the Lord had His hand in that entire experience and it was such a miracle!  God is so good!
-  Another Miracle!  The very second day of the transfer (about 3ish weeks ago), we visited a less active, older mother and daughter.  While we were there, the daughter explained why she had stopped going to church and a lot of her struggles with the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith.  She felt like the Book of Mormon and Bible didn't go together.  Sister Brandley and I ended up testify to her that we knew the Book of Mormon would bless her life if she read it.  We invited her to read 3 Nephi 11 and to pray about it.  Well... over three weeks later, we get this call one afternoon and it ended up being the daughter.  She went on about how she had started to read the Book of Mormon again and how grateful she was that we asked her to do that.  She said that she had felt so much happiness and peace since reading it again and that she had read all the way to Alma!  She said that she was going to go dress shopping so that she could get a dress to wear to church this Sunday!  She was just so happy and we were literally crying on the other end of the phone.  It was such a miracle to be able to see how much her life had turned around since reading the Book of Mormon and how happy she was!
- More Miracles!  We had 5 friends come to church this Sunday!  The whole Smith family came and our new friend Brenna came too!  After church, our ward mission leader took the Smith family on a tour of the temple grounds and they really liked it!  I am so grateful to know such amazing people and to get to see them make steps in faith towards the Lord!  Being a missionary is literally the best!

Scripture of the Week!

Therefore, dearly beloved brethren (and sisters), let us
cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then
may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see
the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.
D&C 123:17

I love this scripture so much and I absolutely love this new perspective our mission is taking on going to the edge to find miracles!  I know that if we give all we have to the Lord, He will be able to make it enough!  I know that if we act in faith and trust in the Lord, we will be able to see the salvation of God in our lives and the lives of those around us!  I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  I know that miracles are real and that God loves all His Children!

I love you all so much and I hope you have a blessed week!
Lots of Love,
Sister Ferrin
